About This Blog …

The inspiration behind this blog is to share insights, quotes, prayers and ideas that has helped me to draw closer to God.  It is a chronicle of my personal reflection and of my quest to find the heart of love and the gift – in each moment – within each person – and in each experience.  This is a part of my life’s journey in the search of truth, hope, stillness, and love

Why Silence?

“…We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence.  See how nature—trees, flowers, grass—grow in silence; see the stars, the moon and sun, how they move in silence. …The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life.  We need silence to touch souls … ”  — Mother Teresa of Calcutta

“If you love truth, be a lover of silence. Silence, like the sunlight will illuminate you in God.”
St. Issac, 7th Century Hermit Monk

More About Me & This Blog …

I originally called this blog “no greater love” but changed the name to “my soul in silence waits” (based on a psalm that I use as a mantra in meditation). This blog has gone through many iterations over time and has slowly become a repository of the wisdom of gentleness, of stillness, of kindness, and of love – and is my peaceful place of personal reflection and contemplation – away from the sometimes “noisy” aspects of my everyday life.

I have always had a lifelong love for beautiful words, poems, quotes, soulful wisdom, and prayers inspired by nature and the deep abiding spirit that dwells all around us … and I used to collect little spinets of wisdom in various notebooks and shoe boxes that would sit on my shelf. This blog has since replaced the many note books and shoeboxes as it is so much easier and searchable way to document, collate, and catalog and share all the wisdom and beauty that I have come across. This blog is a personal collection of things that have helped me along my way or have just spoken to my soul at one time or another. And I have been surprised and humbled when others have also felt the same. Thank you!

I enjoy creative writing and photography – and I make my living as a professional engineer working with water. I feel very connected to water – it has a deeply spiritual meaning in my life. Water is life, it is beauty, and it is the timeless embodiment of purity. It has many forms and yet the molecules themselves have remained unchanged for many millennia. It is often taken for granted and yet it is also the most amazing awe-inspiring substance that we will probably ever encounter.

I have no formal religious training, credentials, or qualifications. But since childhood have had a deep interest and personal fascination with all things spiritual – and all things “God”. I was raised in a Catholic-Christian home, but have more recently found inspiration in other spiritual traditions – and I have found that it has deepened my core faith and brought me into a new openness and understanding of life, faith, and relationships. As a result, truths that I had taken for granted in my childhood faith, are now revealed anew with the freshness of a different perspective and an open heart. To date, it has been an exciting journey of discovery – there is so much beauty to be found – the greatness and grace of which is astounding! My spiritual journey in many ways reflects my physical journey through life – I grew up in Africa but now live in Alberta, Canada – which I now consider to be home. Thank you again for your interest – I enjoy getting feedback, and appreciate your compliments and support …

Blessings and light …
Anne
