Celtic Blessing: “The Path”
God bless the path on which you go
God bless the earth beneath your feet
God bless your destination.
God be a smooth way before you
A guiding star above you
A keen eye behind you
This day, this night, and forever.
God be with you whatever you pass
Jesus be with you whatever you climb
Spirit be with you wherever you stay.
God be with you at each stop and each sea
At each lying down and each rising up
In the trough of the waves, on the crest of
Each step of the journey you take. Continue reading “For The Traveler …”
A leaf fluttered in through the window this morning, as if supported by the rays of the sun, a bird settled on the fire escape, joy in the task of coffee, joy accompanied me as I walked …

The Place I Want To Get Back To
I go out to the dunes and look
and look and look
into the faces of the flowers;
and then one of them leaned forward Continue reading “Joy Accompanied Me As I Walked (Thanksgiving Meditations and Prayers) …”
Advent Daily Meditations are returning on In Silence Waits this year! I will be posting a short daily meditation starting on the first day of December 2019 through to Christmas day.
The theme for this year’s meditations is “comfort and joy“. I look forward to sharing my advent journey with you.
We don’t have to go far to find the treasure we are seeking. There is beauty and goodness right where we are. And only when we can see the beauty and goodness that are close by can we recognize beauty and goodness on our travels far and wide.
— Henri Nouwen from Bread for the Journey
This site began as a free WordPress site nearly ten years ago in 2003. In 2018, WordPress added increasingly intrusive advertisements to its fee websites. To maintain the meditative look/feel and to have control over what was being presented on my site, I have had to pay for the ads to be removed. If you are able, please support my work by making a small contribution here:
Your contributions help me to continue to post and share on In Silence Waits.

You have risen!
You have removed the stone that blocks the springs of life and hope.
With your loving hands you have embraced us and our fragile world.
You walk with us on every road we travel, you sit at every table where we gather.
You have risen!
Stay with us too, as you did with the Emmaus disciples.
In times of darkness and chaos may we say
You have risen!
And then in joy and trust may we smile an Easter smile.
We make our prayer in confidence. Continue reading “He is Risen! (Easter Prayer) …”
May you be blessed in the holy names of those
Who, without you knowing it,
Help to carry and lighten your pain.
May memory bless and protect you
With the hard-earned light of past travail;
To remind you that you have survived before
And though the darkness now is deep,
You will soon see approaching light. Continue reading “Blessing for Paris …”
Christmas, my child, is love in action … when you love someone, you give to them as God gives to us. The greatest gift He ever gave was the Person of His Son, sent to us in human form so that we might know what God the Father is really like! Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.

I just want to express my sincere gratitude to all those the contributed to making this website ad-free! WordPress advertisements were becoming increasingly intrusive and I am not currently in a position to be able to pay for an account upgrade. I am deeply grateful to all those who made the contributions which have now allowed me to sign up for a “personal account” for one year. This should eliminate WordPress advertisements from all my pages and posts. Thank you for your support in making this a more prayerful, peaceful space for everyone. Your generosity means more than you know … many thanks! Continue reading “I Said A Prayer For You …”
